Resident Alien's Cast & Creator Pay Tribute to Series Legacy Ahead of Finale: "I Hope..."

With just one episode left before the hit series Resident Alien comes to an end, nobody would blame you for feeling a bit nostalgic. Certainly not the cast or creator, Chris Sheridan, who USA Insider spoke to fresh off their San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel, where they celebrated four seasons of Resident Alien and the fans who made those seasons possible. We asked Sheridan and cast members Alan Tudyk (Harry Vanderspeigle), Sara Tomko (Asta Twelvetrees), Corey Reynolds (Sheriff Mike Thompson), and Alice Wetterlund (D'arcy Bloom) what they hoped fans would remember about both the show and their characters since Harry and the Patience gang started their journey in 2021. Here's what they said. Resident Alien's cast & creator on what fans should take with them from the series "I hope the people, when they think of Resident Alien, they think about laughter and joy," Tudyk said. "There's a heart element involved. It's not just 'ha ha,' but there's a warm feeling about it. Feel-good laughter." From the moment Harry Vanderspeigle crash-landed on Earth, he was infected by humanity: our fear and pettiness... but, more importantly, our kindness and inherent need for connection. Nobody is an island — especially on Resident Alien. "I hope they remember to be empowered and to love themselves — and that they're not alone," Tomko said. Tomko's Asta, Harry's long-suffering best friend and the first person (minus Judah Prehn's Max) to know Harry's alien secret, is arguably the show's heart. The series has seen her grow from a woman unsure of her place in the world to a leader in her community. And even more importantly: Someone who knows their own self worth and empowers others to do the same. "Thanks for hanging in there with me on him," Reynolds said of Sheriff Mike. When we first met Mike (self-titled "Big Black" in the premiere episode), he was "cantankerous and terse at times," as Reynolds said. But he's softened over the years. He'll always be the suspicious, hilariously blunt man audiences know and love, but he's only benefited from his time in Patience. "I hope they can see that he's got heart," Reynolds concluded. "And he only hides that heart because he's afraid of having it broken." Similarly, D'arcy's had her ups and downs over the years. From her Olympic hopes to struggling with depression and alcoholism, D'arcy's been on quite the journey. But, as Wetterlund told us, "I hope people think of D'arcy and know that no matter how bad life gets, you can always make the decision to reach out and rely on the people around you, even if they're from another planet." RELATED: And that, ultimately, was Resident Alien's entire message: humans are ultimately good, and, more often than not, will band together to make the darkness not feel so overwhelming. "What I'm hoping they remember is how happy it made them," Sheridan, who created, directed, and executive produced the series, said. "How the laughter that they had during this show, they took into work the next day, and I hope it gave them happiness. I hope it changed their lives for the better a little bit." The Resident Alien series finale premieres on Friday, August 8, at 10/9c on USA Network and SYFY. Reporting by Emma Agripino. Solve the daily Crossword
